Living green compost worm compost from Donegal €7.50 per bag

This compost is perfect across the board and is suitable for seed germination, root development, plant growth as well as being a great compost for vegetables such as tomatoes, broccoli, courgette and countless others. Compost enriched by worms is rocket fuel for plants. Living Green came to the market in 2013 to the delight of organic growers everywhere. Here's a little history about the compost:

Living Green organic compost is created on a commercial worm farm in Innishowen Co.Donegal. A whopping 17,000kg of worms convert their peat based bedding material, potato scraps and a high protein organic feed into this rich compost. As the worms digest and process their bedding material their digestive tract coats the materials particles in enzymes that allow the plants to absorb nutrients from the compost easier resulting in vigorous root growth and ultimately stronger and healthier plants.

Geeup horse manure

Gee-up Horse Manure €5.50 per bag

  A load of old horse sh*t !  Gee-up

…..A relative who is an expert plants woman … told me early on to "work the soil”. I followed her advice and in doing so never thought that I would come to love and appreciate manure so much… So, twice a year, in autumn and spring we wheel barrow tons of well rotted horse manure across the road for our borders.

It is fantastic stuff. Every wheelbarrow load fills me with excitement knowing that my beloved plants will thrive in its organic mulchiness. It nourishes the soil, it keeps the weeds down, it locks moisture in and its rich dark hue makes everything look perfect.

If you don’t live next or near to your own manure heaven don’t despair, ‘Gee-up’ (horse manure in a bag effectively) is an excellent product and from a Cork-based company too. This is available to purchase at a wide variety of outlets.
